Wednesday, October 29th, 2014Timor Leste Update
Thursday, October 23rd, 2014
Robert Benn is currently in Timor Leste for APWM. Here are some photos of the church building in the capital, Dili. Thank you to everyone who gave through PresAID to make this possible. Robert writes “This Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Timor Leste was born about 6 years ago. We are now formally “partners” – and what a privilege. About 12 elders and ministers of the IEPTL arrived on buses, motor-bikes and cars at the new church site for a day long discussion on issues relating to this 6 year partnership.
Firstly we toured the new buildings, as yet unfinished, but targeted for completion at the end of November. Church building. Multi-purpose building. Pastor’s home with enough room for accommodation of others. All very impressive. The church building will comfortably seat about 400 to 450. Opening date is 13th December, with our own Moderator General as the guest speaker. All very exciting! Now for the long-long and productive discussion using English, Indonesian and Tetun . . a couple of people being the translators. . . . .”

Great news! Global Recordings has just released the iPhone version of their 5fish app! What is 5fish you ask? It’s a tool for accessing audio gospel materials in thousands of different languages. Well worth having on hand to share the gospel when you meet someone whose heart language is not English. Get it from the Apple App Store. https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/gospel-in-every-language-5fish/id659138487?mt=8 (There is also an Android version that has been out for a while).

Wednesday, August 6th, 2014A Quick Correction
Thursday, June 26th, 2014A quick correction. Those of you who receive our Email Update may have read in the accompanying email that Andy and Rosemary Williamson are finishing at Talua at the end of 2014. That is not correct. It will be Glen and Rachael Connor who will be finishing at Talua at the end of 2014. The Williamsons will be at Talua until August 2015. We apologise for any confusion caused.
Vanuatu Workpartners Update
Tuesday, June 24th, 2014
An update from our Workpartners team in Vanuatu “Everyone arrived safe and well. All enjoyed a good day of work today, with a water pipe relocated, the foundation trenches tidied up and most of the reinforcing steel for the foundations prepared. Some long standing electrical problems in the Married Quarters were investigated, and a trip to town tomorrow (Tuesday) will see the materials necessary for these repairs purchased.
At the building site, we enjoyed the assistance of several of the students, who insisted on doing all the heavy digging work. (Which we, of course, allowed!)
The weather has been perfect! Sunny, a bit humid, but very pleasant nonetheless. And Mumma Kim is cooking up her usual wonderful meals. All will enjoy a well-earned sleep tonight!”
Training and Fellowship in Timor Leste
Friday, June 20th, 2014
A few weeks ago a team from Australia went to Dili to share with our brothers and sisters in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Timor Leste. The team consisted of David Burke (Christ College, Sydney), Peter Burke (APWM Missionary serving with SIM), Alex Ralston (APWM National Treasurer) and Dave Bell (Cornerstone Church, Concord in Sydney). Together they taught on Mark’s gospel, the Bible and finance, discipling and prayer. The training was held in the new church building which was part-funded through PresAID and the Timor Leste government. Thank you to everyone who gave to this through the PresAID appeal.
Dr Graham Miller’s ‘Live’ Books
Wednesday, June 11th, 2014
For many years Dr Graham & Mrs Flora Miller served as missionaries in Vanuatu. One of the legacies of their ministry was a seven volume history, written by Dr Miller, of Church Planting in Vanuatu called the ‘Live’ books 1-7. There are very few of these left in print and Australian Presbyterian World Mission is looking into scanning and reprinting them. If you have copies of any of these books on your shelves gathering dust, could you please donate them to APWM and we will send them to Vanuatu where the Presbyterian Church of Vanuatu finds them to be a valuable resource. Perhaps you could take or send them to your next State Assembly and Kevin Murray could pick them up there. Thank you.

For NSW people. Registrations are now open for Reachout 2014. If you are interested in serving in cross-cultural mission or supporting mission, then this is a great opportunity to talk to a variety of mission groups all located in one place. It’s like a one-stop mission shop! It’s also a great place to meet up with others who are serving or preparing to serve in mission.
